A Johannesburg court ruled that Rabbi Eliezer Berland will remain in jail until such time he is extradited to Israel. There is disappointment in the Shuvu Banim community as the rav’s attorney was hopeful he would be released to house arrest until turned over to the custody of Israel Police.
The court announced its ruling on Thursday 24 Sivan, bringing an end to any hope by Rabbi Berland’s followers that he will be released. It is still to be determined when the rabbi will be turned over to Israeli custody. The rabbi was arrested by police in Johannesburg three months ago.

Hopefully, he will be extradited soon so he will have his day in court as he has always wanted to respond to the allegations against him. It’s time for this traveling roadshow to end
If he wanted to respond, why did he run away? His chassidim say, he’s suffering for the sake of the generation, a Christian concept in my view. When will this חילול השם end already?

It sounds like from your comment, that if he has to return to Israel , it would make you a very happy person. Can you explain to us why will this give you so much happiness?
If he wanted his day in court, he would never have gone on the lam. Innocent people don’t skip from country to country, evading the authorities.
