Frum Girl ‘Assaulted’ In Heart Of Lakewood On Thursday Night

lpd

A Frum girl was chased down and assaulted in Lakewood last night, TLS is reporting.

The victim, said to be approximately 15 years old, was walking on Forest Avenue at around 11:30PM when she reportedly realized she was being followed. She began running away, but the man gave chase until catching up with her near the lake.

Officials tell TLS the man then proceeded to beat her – including possibly attempting to strangle her – before he fled, while allegedly threatening he would kill her if she phoned police.

The shaken girl phoned her father, who in turn phoned police.

Hatzolah also responded to the scene and transported the girl to Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Her injuries are not life-threatening, officials said.

The suspect was described as a white male, but no further details were immediately released.

Authorities are investigating the incident.

  1. Please define “assaulted”, was it just physical or was it a sexual assault? I understand that YWN wants to be family friendly, but that shouldn’t be the cause of basic information being left out of stories. There is a HUGE difference between someone on the streets who beat someone vs someone on the streets who raped someone, with the latter being A LOT more scary!

  2. To dkbmd — l’mai nafkah minah? Will you be more careful if it was a sexual assault than if it was “just” physical? Will you be less reluctant to let your daughter walk by herself late at night if it was “just” a physical assault? Is it just a question of how “scary” the story should sound? I understand that we all love juicy gossip, but it’s not clear why this is important from a need-to-know perspective.

  3. A girl walking alone 11:30pm is a accident waiting to happen. Yes, we unfortunately live in a Crazy World! –

we live in a crazy world. you stand on line at the airport you get blown up: you eat in Tel Aviv restaurant you get blown away: you walk the streets of Jerusalem you get stabbed: so why shouldn’t a girl be allowed to walk the safe streets of Lakewood?

  4. Forrest Ave in Lakewood is a very popular residential street, cars until very late pass. Please don’t always blame the victim, walking home from babysitting or such.

The first response Dkbmd, might need some Soul searching and less Internet.

  5. Let’s not blame the victim. The only takeaway I see here is to take a few minutes to consider the “what ifs?”
ie – if you are concerned about someone who may be following you, can you walk up to a home nearby and ring the bell?

  6. I bye no means meant to blame the victim, and I hope for her speedily recovery physically and emotionally. I simply meant to say that even in safe Lakewood, it’s unfortunately realistically not so safe, with other Nationalities (hint, short and ugly people) walking or biking the streets, looking to do harm.

  7. With all due respect to #1 (dkbmd), why exactly do you need to know every last detail?
Clearly the article was written as such (probably due the fact that it simply was a physical assault) or intentionally left out. Either way, you need to respect people’s privacy as it does not really change anything for the rest of us, since regardless of what kind of assault it is, we need to take appropriate measures to keep ourselves safe.

  8. To appleface- how dear you call a person ugly. Your name is appleface. Everyone is made by HaShem. Disgusting.
