The IDF Northern Command has been investigating the recent infiltration of a drone from Syria into northern Israel. As reported earlier by YWN-ISRAEL, attempts to down the drone failed, including patriot missiles and an air-to-air missile fired from a fighter plane.

The investigation revealed that the IDF’s Northern Control identified the drone 24km from the border and was monitoring it. The first patriot missile fired after the drone crossed into Israeli airspace was four kilometers from the border. It detonated far from the objective due to a mishap. The second patriot fired missed.

Shortly after the incursion the IDF Spokesman Unit reported the firing of an air-to-air missile at the drone following both patriot failures. That missile also missed. It appears the probe into the incident continues.
