Police on Wednesday 21 Tammuz took two Waqf guards into custody after they assaulted Jews visiting the holy site. The persons assaulted did not require medical care.

As police moved in to make the arrests they found themselves in a confrontation with additional Waqf officials who feel they have autonomous rule on Har Habayis.

Gedolei Yisrael over the generations and the Chief Rabbinate of Israel prohibit visiting Har Habayis.

  1. although it is not popular to say so, it should be pointed out that when you say “all the gedolim” forbid going up to Har HaBayit, it is really not correct.

There are those who say it is permitted in certain areas. However, no one seems to want to listen to them and their opinions are marginalized by saying, well they are not gedolim, but it is not 100% agreed by the gedolim.
