7-1- 8-H- E-L- P-N- O-W. For over 30 years, that iconic phone number has provided a confidential listening ear and professional guidance to frum people from around the world dealing with a wide array of personal issues. With some 40 licensed therapists selflessly volunteering their professional skills, the Yitti Leibel Helpline has fielded tens of thousands of calls, lesheim mitzvah.

Fielding calls from cities across the US and around the globe, the Helpline has enabled countless people to successfully weather challenges such as OCD, Anxiety/Depression, Shalom Bayis, Family conflict, Children’s issues and other personal crises. Many others have been helped with simple advice or words of encouragement.

Unfortunately, unless the Helpline receives a substantial infusion of funds, this vital resource will be forced to close and bring an end to its years of critical service to Klal Yisroel. There is still time. We can save this organization so that it can continue its important mission. Our goal is to raise the relatively nominal sum of $50,000 to pay for minimal administrative costs and advertising of our service. Please help in any way you can! Together we can avert this crisis!

The Gemara speaks of the importance of sharing one’s personal burden with a friend as a means of alleviating the pain. The countless blessings and expressions of gratitude the Helpline receives from grateful callers attest to the veracity of this ideal. The emotional pain of dealing with an issue, no matter how large or small, is exacerbated by the sense of uncertainty and aloneness. In many instances, the simple act of airing ones feelings is therapeutic. It allows them to feel validated, and reassures them that their thoughts and feelings are normal.

Callers to the Helpline do not have to reveal their name and their confidentiality is respected. Where necessary, callers are encouraged to seek professional therapy. The knowledge that the volunteers are experienced clinicians who share the callers’ value system provides an important level of trust.

Because of their professional expertise, over the years, there have been countless instances where volunteers have made a significant difference by properly evaluating the needs of callers. Often times, an issue such as a compulsive attachment to technology can be a symptom of more serious addictive behavioral issues. Other times, a seemingly serious concern can turn out to be unsubstantiated. No issue is too big or too small for the helpline to assist with. The Helpline is an all-volunteer organization with a minimal administrative and advertising budget.

Consider sponsoring a month of operations for just $3,600. A week for $1000 or a day for $180. Any donation, large or small, can help save that this vital resource so that it can continue to serve Klal Yisroel.
