France to Teach Children How to React to Terror Attacks

ptaFrance’s government has unveiled a plan to teach children how to react in case of an attack at school.

Education Minister Najat Vallaud-Belkacem and Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve on Wednesday announced a series of measures regarding how schools and children must handle the terrorist threat.

Every school will have to organize three security drills per year, including one based on the scenario of an attack with at least one assailant inside the building. Children will be taught how to hide or to escape, depending on the situation and where they are.

Children aged 13-14 will also get a basic training on life-saving measures.

In addition, some police forces will be patrolling in school areas, a measure in place since last year’s attacks in Paris.
