Shlomi Tamam, who chairs the Bayit Yehudi part in Holon has filed a police complaint against the HaPeles newspaper after the Yerushalmi-faction affiliated newspaper published a defamatory caricature against Bayit Leumi Deputy Minister Rabbi Eli Ben-Dahan and the dati leumi party.

Bayit Yehudi Council official Amiad Taub filed the complaint explaining “We deplore the dismissive attitude towards Deputy Defense Minister Rabbi Eli Ben-Dahan, איש ספרא וסייפא , a true representative and call on chareidi representatives in Knesset to express their disapproval of such inciteful actions and to state unequivocally that this type of behavior is unacceptable”.

The caricature published last week traveled to various social media networks quickly and it went viral in serval circles. It depicts Ben-Dahan as the hangman placing the noose around a talmid yeshiva as the rope of the gallows is marked “induction”, referring the conflict surrounding military service and the chareidi tzibur.

The dati leumi community adds that Rabbi Ben-Dahan in seen in soccer clothing, to further depict him as a person far from the talmid chacham that he is.

Ben-Dahan condemned the caricature during an interview on Galei Tzahal (Army Radio).
