Binyamin Regional Council Leader: PM Netanyahu’s Building Freeze Stems From His Fear Of The US And EU

1Chairman of the Binyamin Regional Council district in Shomron, Avi Roeh, representing some 40 communities, tells the Knesset Channel that he feels the construction freeze is the result of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s fears of the United States of European Union, explaining he and his colleagues are disappointed and dissatisfied regarding housing approvals in yishuvim.

Roeh is less than impressed with the first year and a half of the current administration and its policy preventing construction in communities throughout Yehuda and Shomron. “We have a good right-wing government but we expected the message out in the streets would be a more definitive one” added Roeh.

In a related matter, the Jewish community of Hebron is concerned over mounting pressure from the United States opposing Jewish construction in the city, a reality they feel it nothing less than discriminatory. The Jewish community calls on the US to halt its discriminatory policy immediately, as well as calling on the Government of Israel to give the green light for continued Jewish sector construction in the holy city.

Community leaders add the historical realities of Hebron are such that one cannot deny the Jewish roots to the holy city and the Jewish People’s right to live and build in the city.

  1. Everyone keeps saying that it is fear of the US or the EU that prevents this or that. But exactly what can they do? Europe is a basket case and can do nothing for itself. What can they do to Israel? Even though Obama thinks he is king of America, he is still limited in the damage he can do to us and he will never do anything helpful for Jews in any case. So again, what is there to fear on a national level?

The fear is most likely on a personal level. The fear that all those fat, supplemental retirement funds might dry up. The fear that after selling you soul to The Man, he might not take it well if you do not toe the line.

  2. The fear goes beyond military aid. Its about economic relationships. Israel does a ton of business with the EU, and the EU has been challenging this relationship. The financial loss to Israels economy would be dramatic.
