h1

An 11-year-old child is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle on Wednesday morning.

Hatzolah was called to the intersection of Dahill Road and Cortelyou Road in Boro at around 6:45AM. Upon arrival, Hatzolah found the child with severe injuries. He was rushed by Paramedics to Maimonides Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

Sources tell YWN that the child was on his way to Yeshiva at the time of the incident. His bike helmet was reportedly shattered in pieces.

The NYPD was on the scene conducting an investigation, and the streets were going to be closed for an extended period of time.

Please be Mispallel for Moshe Yehuda ben Rochel Miriam who needs Rachmei Shomayim.

  1. I generally write down the names that you post on my Tehillim list לרפו”ש בתושח”י but never know how long to leave then on. YWN – can you please put some kind of follow-up system in place so that we know who is still in need of our tefillos and who is not?

  2. That’s a poor advertisement for helmet wearing. Looks like they need to be redesigned. Perhaps this was some Chinese version that didn’t meet the official standards, assuming there are such standards.
A refuah shlaimah bemhaira for moshe yehuda ben rochel miriam whose family I know well.

  3. Realize that if a helmet gets smashed like this from an impact, can you imagine r”l what would happen to the head if the helmet wasn’t on? The helmet absorbs the impact, and shield’s the head.
I have a close relative that had a helmet that smashed to peices, and he is Boruch Hashem perfectly fine today. Doctors told his parents, that the helmet saved his life. Bezras Hashem.
So please make sure that everyone wears a helmet, we have to do whatever we can to protect ourselves, and then daven that everyone stays safe. And this young boy should have a refuah shlaim b’soich shear cholei Yisroel.

  4. Refuah Sheleima! How frightening. May his parents have alot of strength for this as well!
My daughter’s classmate had a helmet that her mother hung up permanently on the wall in her house, which looked almost this bad. It had saved her life in a similar incident. This mom would make it a point to show all visitors, parents and kids – THIS is why you/your child must wear a helmet ALWAYS.

  5. My you have a Refuah Sh’laima Moshe Yehuda Ben Rachel Miriam! I had a bike accident in the 80’s and was not wearing a helmet. My heart goes out to the family. I hope that Moshe Yehuda will be on his way to school once again! BM’hayra!
