MK Yehuda Glick On Ban Against MKs Visiting Har Habayis

1MK Yehuda Glick on Tuesday 17 Elul was interviewed on Kol Berama Radio. He was asked to respond to the announcement by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, continuing the ban against MKs visiting Har Habayis.

Following are the main points of the interview.

“I receive the news with sorrow and understanding”, explaining that Arab MKs have used visit for incitement and spreading hate so he understands the need to extend the ban, albeit one accompanied with sorrow for he was a regular visitor to the holy site.

Glick added that authorities are working to prevent violence during Tishrei, and he understands the sensitivity attached to Har Habayis. “PM Netanyahu is interested in Tishrei passing without incident and therefore he is taking every measure possible, small as it may be…” explaining that while Jews visiting does not lead to terror as some say it does, but nevertheless the Prime Minister is not leaving any stone unturned in an effort to prevent violence and attacks in Tishrei.

Glick remains hopeful that thousands of Jews will be able to visit Har Habayis on Tishrei to fulfill the commandments associated with this, each according to his rav. “I follow rabbonim who explain it is a mitzvah to visit Har Habayis” he added.

Kol Berama:

What do you think about the new wave of terror?

Glick:

This morning I visited outside Har Habayis and was mispallel and then off to Shaare Zedek where I visited the border policewoman who was serious wounded in the stabbing attack. We continue our tefilos and I saw in the hospital she is in good hands. All of this aside, there must be zero tolerance to any and all acts of terror.

Kol Berama:

You know firsthand, having been the victim of an attempted assassination.

Glick:

HKBH looks after me as well as the Knesset Officer today and I continue working and today I was in the Old City and I travel to all areas, and today accompanied by security personnel.

Gedolei Yisrael over the generations and the Chief Rabbinate of Israel prohibit visiting Har Habayis.
