FJCC: Flatbush Community Concerned As Additional 300 Students To Be Placed Into Public School On Nostrand And Ave K

sThe NYC Department of Education is proposing to place 300 additional students into the Junior High School on Nostrand Ave. between Ave. K and Ave. L, without any plan for safe dismissal or safeguards for area businesses and homeowners.

Over the years, there have been multiple reports of destructive behavior by unsupervised students on Nostrand Avenue and in the East 30s at dismissal.

Adding 300 more students to the mix is a cause for deep concern and worthy of community input.

We have been informed that a final public hearing will be held today!
Wednesday, December 21st @ 6:00pm
Location: High School for Fashion Industries, 225 West 24th Street, New York City

Community residents and store owners are requesting that you submit respectful comments opposing the addition of new students into our neighborhood by calling 212-374-0208 or emailing [email protected]

Calls and emails can be submitted multiple times.

Please do so before 6 PM this evening.

Thank you for your immediate attention.

  1. Without information as to the current student population or from where the additional proposed students would be coming from, it’s hard to take an informed position. They could be honor students or special ed students in need of constant supervision. If there are recurring problems with the Hudde students the 2 police precincts should be asked for additional patrols after school.
