Trump Denounces Threats Against Jewish Centers

trPresident Donald Trump on Tuesday denounced recent threats against Jewish community centers as “horrible” and “painful.” He said they are a “very sad reminder of the work that still must be done to root out hate and prejudice and evil.”

Trump made the remarks after touring the newly opened National Museum of African American History and Culture.

“This tour was a meaningful reminder of why we have to fight bigotry, intolerance and hatred in all of its very ugly forms,” Trump said.

His comments about recent threats at Jewish community centers across the country marked the first time he had directly addressed a wave of anti-Semitism and followed a more general White House denouncement of “hatred and hate-motivated violence.”

That statement, earlier Tuesday, did not mention the community center incidents or Jews. Trump “has made it abundantly clear that these actions are unacceptable,” that statement said.

The FBI said it is joining with the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division to investigate “possible civil rights violations in connection with threats” to the centers.

On Monday, Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, wrote on Twitter, “We must protect our houses of worship & religious centers,” and used the hashtag #JCC. She converted to Judaism ahead of her 2009 marriage to Jared Kushner. She joined her father at the African American museum tour.

The White House was criticized by Jewish groups after issuing an International Holocaust Remembrance Day statement last month that did not mention Jews.

  1. #1 He didn’t change his tune it was just articulated to him what the issue was, changing his tune makes it sound like he was once in favor of bombing Jewish centers.

  2. #1 Change his tune? LIAR! He was ALWAYS pro Israel and pro Jews, unlike YOUR Obama and YOUR Witch who hate Israel and hate Jews. President Trump, the first real President for THE American PEOPLE has always been a true friend of Jews.

  3. I believe that all of the so call threats are made by liberals just to make the President look as jew hatter
They will find them & the truth will come out

  4. I believe the real question is whether these acts are hate crimes and represent old fashioned anti-semitism, or are extensions of the campaigns of terror. The former is a local law enforcement issue, perhaps involving multiple localities. Statements from the administration are useful, but do not really help much until there are arrests and prosecution. The latter, that these are acts of terror, directly involves the federal government and its resources to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice. The odds are that if this is true, we are dealing with home grown terrorists who have been radicalized. Regardless, I would love to see this trend investigated, and some justice done.

  5. How silly some of you sound, yes he changed from when being asked about this topic from saying shut up and sit down to actually making a statement about it, overdue but good to hear.
