Waze Israel Blames Human Error For Wed. AM Snarls On Route 443

1Thousands of motorists traveling on the Jerusalem-Tel Aviv Highway on Wednesday morning 26 Shevat were directed to Highway 443, the Jerusalem-Modi’in Highway as an alternate as Waze reported heavy traffic on Highway 1, the Jerusalem-Tel Aviv Highway.

Drivers who ignored Waze’s suggestion found there was no delay on Highway one and in fact, traffic was moving unimpaired.

Waze confirms that motorists were directed to an alternate route while in fact, there was no delay on Highway 1. Waze officials blame “human error” for the error and it was corrected as soon as they detected it.

Waze apologizes to the public and is taking measures to report such instances in the future.

  1. Interesting because there was a serious vehicular fire on the Tel Aviv – Jerusalem highway as reported by YWN [http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/news/headlines-breaking-stories/529436/photos-israel-bchasdei-hashem-united-hatzalah-ems-arrives-in-time-to-save-disabled-passengers-from-burning-vehicle.html}. As Waze very much relies on user information, maybe too many people sent in heavy traffic reports and the Waze technician didn’t notice that the fire was on the other side of the highway!
