The Rug Is Being Pulled Out From Under Our Feet

[COMMUNICATED CONTENT]

“The rug is being pulled out from under our feet!” This is the plea of the father of a family of 7, totally dependent on our being the shlichim of HKB’H. Serious medical problems, no income, and no financial backing are the ingredients for a dreadful situation.

Rabbi Weinreb details his challenging situation. “Every doctor I have seen doesn’t understand why I am not getting 100% disability, along with 24/7 days a week aide. I have been fighting Bituach Leumi (Israeli social security system) for years, but so far, nothing. The lawyer we are working with has also not accomplished anything yet. I also need dental work to the tune of 10,000 nis for work that must be done in the hospital. Fortunately I have a golf cart which enables me to get around, but that too is in need of repairs…”only” about 3000 nis. Oxygen tanks, pain killers, medication and more add to the list of expenses.

“In addition to my issues, 4 of my 5 children have medical problems as well, ranging from serious genetic autoimmune disorder, to much worse; the youngest, 2 years old, has a most serious diagnosis. Some of them are on severely restricted diets, resulting in bigger food bills and much more work as well.

“My children are sweet, happy – usually with smiles on their faces, like any children – doing well in school, playing, growing. Learning… but we cannot pay their tuition, and we cannot pay the rent. Our landlord is patient, but he needs the income as well. If we are evicted from our apartment… Only Hashem knows where we will find a roof over our heads.

“B’H my wife is well, but with all the food preparation work, appointments, stress etc., she is unable to work. We do not have family in EY, and our relatives cannot help us in any significant way.

Bottom line: My situation is ‘incredible’ but unfortunately true. I know every little bit helps – I humbly ask each person reading this to please dig deep in to your hearts and help save my family. Please help us keep a semblance of normalcy!
