Rockets Slam Into Eilat & Aqaba, One Person Killed; Where Were They Fired From?

Five rockets were fired towards Eilat and the Jordanian port city of Aqaba Monday morning. There were no reports of injury or damage in Eilat. One of the projectiles landed in an open area in Israel’s southernmost city, three more landed in the Red Sea – two of them in Jordanian territory – while a fifth rocket hit Aqaba.

Jordanian authorities said a Grad rocket landed near vehicles parked at the entrance to the InterContinental Hotel in Aqaba. Local media outlets reported that five people were injured in the attack. One of them, 40-year-old Subhi al-Alauna, died of his wounds several hours later. The rest of those wounded in the attack are said to be in light condition.

The IDF estimates the rockets were fired from Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula by Global Jihad terrorists, however, Egyptian security officials said the attack did not originate in the Sinai Peninsula.

Jordanian Communications Minister Nabil Al-Sharif said he was certain that the salvo had not been launched from within Jordanian territory.

Another Jordanian source, when asked where the rocket had been launched, told Reuters without elaborating: “It came from the west.”

  1. Open Miracle!- Five rockets launched, and the only one killed is an arab in Jordan.
Reminds me of an incident MANY, MANY years ago in Hevron when an arab threw a grenade into a Jewish bus. It went in the window of one side of the bus, out the window on the other side of the bus, and killed arabs on the other side!

  2. Ship from the Mediterrean is doubtful there is major survelliance there, maybe from the Red Sea.

“Inside Israel” — huh? Like Netivot, Sderot, Negev communities.. or are the Beduoins getting brave??

  3. #2 – Very unlikely.
They were probably fired from the Sinai peninsula, i.e. Egypt.
Egypt doesn’t want to admit they were fired from their territory. Don’t forget, – all the smuggling tunnels we always hear about that hamas uses to bring in weapons to gaza have TWO ends! The end in Gaza, and the end in Egypt. Egypt is no friend. It’s only a matter of time until we are at war with Egypt again.
