Mega Millions Jackpot Grows To $312 Million

Mega Millions fever is getting even hotter as the jackpot swells to the sixth-highest in the drawing’s history.

Ticket buyers have been lining up across New York for a chance to take home the estimated $312 million jackpot. Tickets will be sold statewide until 10:45 p.m. Friday for the 11 p.m. drawing.

Officials say a rise in sales has helped bring Friday’s Mega Millions jackpot from $304 million to the current $312 million.

If no ticket matches all six numbers in Friday’s drawing, the estimated jackpot may reach the $390 million range for the March 29 drawing.

  1. Pardon me, is this the Yeshiva World? Oh, I thought I was at Gamblers Anonymous for a moment.

Maybe since it is the Yeshiva World, the article should say “Tickets will be sold until 18 minutes before Sunset on Friday for the 11 p.m. drawing.” Be sure to ask an Eino Yehudi before Shabbos to look up the numbers for you, and to come by and tell them to you ‘Masiach Lefi Tumo’. Also, since the ticket is Muktzah, you should bend some extra pieces of Lukshen into numbers, or arrange Alpha Bits (do those even have numbers?) into you numbers so that you can check it on Shabbos.

In truth, talking or maybe even thinking about them would really be Assur according to most poskim, but you can maybe find a hetter because you will not be able to sleep otherwise, so it might cause you Tzar on Shabbos.

(In case anyone thought I was serious an is preparing a scathing response, remember that it is still Adar. Ksheim Shemishenechnas Av Moatim Besimcha, Kain Meshenechnas Adara Marbim Besimcha. Feel free to respond anyway, since you too have nothing more important to do!)

  2. It appears that #1 YitzyK is the one that has nothing better to do on Friday afternoon.
I for one, will be very patient until after Shabbos to find out if indeed I had become a multi-millionaire over Shabbos. I think that’s it’s only fair enough to keep Shabbos with every l’chatchila and not look for heterim especially if you’re hoping that Hashem should feel that you are deserving to win this lottery.
    Hey, ya never know!!!
