You should see the typical rabidly anti-semitic comments on the Journal News article on this story. You never see anything of the like when the same story happens to a non-Jew (which happens far far more often both numerically and percentagely.)

These stories are always so sad as it’s obvious the father meant no harm and in the erev-Shabbos rush somehow forgot. There are no easy answers to such situations.
