N.J. Survey Asks How To Improve MVC

(Tuesday, July 26th, 2011)

New Jersey’s Motor Vehicle Commission is asking customers how it can improve service.

MVC Commission chief administrator Raymond Martinez is visiting all 38 agency offices this summer to talk to drivers and to employees.

However, a video taken by a customer shows drivers forced to wait in the sweltering heat outside the MVC office in Jersey City Saturday while three people filled out forms inside.

Martinez told The Star-Ledger of Newark it makes no sense when there are empty chairs inside. Martinez said he would look into what happened.

Martinez says the MVC is upgrading its computer system that eventually would allow motorists to renew their licenses online or by mail.

The agency has faced two computer glitches since changing service hours this summer.
