#1 as the saying goes “yawning is contagious, it is spreading an epidemic”.

I suppose itching is only contagious if the eyes are open, which means that it has to do with some cognizance; but yawning is contagious even if no one is aware of the other’s yawning ,which means that it releases some sleeping gas into the air.

Even suggesting to someone to not scratch any itches over the next 60 seconds, can instigate an itch and subsequent scratch response.
