Hundreds of employees of Haifa Chemicals Company took to the streets in protest early Sunday morning 21 Adar, closing major streets in Dimona, in Southern Israel. They protested against the court-ordered closure of the company prior to finding a new venue to continue working, fearing for their source of a livelihood.

The approximately 200 protestors explained “This is a fight for our lives” as about 1,500 are being laid off before Pesach without hope of finding other employment.

Police moved in and the roads were opened ahead of the Sunday morning rush hour.

  1. The article omits some critical information. This chemical company is a critical public health hazard and is surrounded by thousands of residences, schools, etc. it operates a huge ammonia tank and should have been shut down years ago. Also of interest is that the upstream owner of the chemical company is a U.S. (Florida-based) company named Trump Industries….NO relation to the Trumpkopf.
