Amsellem Optimistic Ahead of Election

(Monday, October 15th, 2012)

Former Shas MK Rabbi Chaim Amsellem is confident regarding the outcome of the general election for his new עם שלם party. During an interview Sunday with Kol Chai Radio’s Noam Zeigman, the rav predicted he will receive 7 mandates in the next Knesset.

When asked if Aryeh Deri’s return to the political arena will have an effect on his election bid, Amsellem signaled it will not, stating “It won’t hurt or assist”.

Amsellem addressed what he calls “this new mutation”, a litvish Sephardi, which he feels has resulted in “tens of thousands of poor, needy, ignorant, and dependent Sephardim. That is Aryeh Deri” he concluded.
