PHOTOS: Egged Bus Slams Into Electric Pole Causing Stop Of Light Rail Line

(PHOTOS IN EXTENDED ARTICLE)

An Egged bus on Sunday evening 26 Shevat struck an electric pole, resulting in the pole being downed across the tracks of the Israel Light Rail after the train’s last stop – Har Herzl.

CityPass officials released a statement that due to the accident, service is halted until repairs can be completed.

CityPass released another statement on Monday morning: Good morning, the light rail maintenance crews continue work to repair the electricity pole that was damaged last night by a bus near Mount Herzl and to restore electricity to this part of the line.

“Even this morning, until the completion of the repair, it is not possible to operate trains in the area. In light of this, the light rail operates along most of the line – between the air force stations (Pisgat Ze’ev) and Denia Square. There is no train service at the stations of Yefei Nof and Mount Herzl.

“Until the completion of the repair and restoration of electricity – bus lines arriving in routine to the Mount Herzl train station will continue to drive to Denia Square where the light rail can be made.”
