Northern District Commander Major-General Gadi Eisenkott has been named the next deputy chief of staff, the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit confirmed. This was the selection of IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz, which was approved by Defense Minister Ehud Barak.

** EU foreign ministers will be meeting today to discuss labeling goods originating from “occupied areas” as they move ahead with their boycott against yishuvim.

** The PA has granted Hamas a permit to hold parades to mark its 25th anniversary in PA autonomous areas in Yehuda and Shomron. One such event is scheduled to take place in Shechem on Thursday.

** Yesh Atid files a petition with the Supreme Court in response to cabinet approval of 1,300 slots in civilian service for chareidim.

** Two Israeli fighter planes reported flew over Lebanon this morning, 96 kilometers south of the Lebanese capital of Beirut.

** Job actions that began at 10am today by employees of Pelephone are expected to lead to disruptions in service for the cellular telephone provider.

** A 19-year-old female driver was apprehended driving 213 KPH (128 MPH) on Route 40, with a maximum speed limit of 90 KPH (55 MPH). The driver was arrested and her vehicle impounded. She will be brought before a traffic court judge in an expeditious fashion police report.
