Likud Attacks Bennet, Who Hints He May Run For PM Position

Bayit Yehudi party leader Naftali Bennet is under attack from both the Likud party and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

Meeting with Likud Knesset faction members, Mr. Netanyahu discussed ongoing efforts to reach agreement with the chareidi parties on a draft bill to avoid early elections. He spoke of ongoing efforts to stabilize the coalition, to permit it to serve its full term. He made it clear, that he is unwilling to return to a government of 61, as was the case prior to Yisrael Beitenu joining, and if a deal cannot be reached in which Yisrael Beitenu remains on board, then it will be early elections.

At the same time, Bennet has announced weighing the possibility of running for the premiership, triggering a harsh response from Likud, who accusing him of trying to topple the government and advance his own career as PM Netanyahu works to stabilize the situation.

Speaking with Ynet, Bennet stated “If Prime Minister Netanyahu compels elections for personal reasons that are irrelevant, the public will have a cheshbon with him, and I will consider running against him”.
