Rav Druckman: It’s A Mistake To Topple A Right-Wing Government

In response to the storm surrounding the possibility of early elections, HaRav Chaim Druckma, a senior posek and authority in the dati leumi community, called on the prime minister and all elements of the coalition: “There is absolutely no right to overthrow a right-wing government, and the current government must continue to serve until the end of its term, which should be promoted in the State of Israel.”

The rav adds, “It is precisely now that the US administration is sympathetic to the State of Israel, stands by us clearly at the UN and recognizes our right to the Land of Israel and Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and transfers the American Embassy to Jerusalem. It would be a terrible mistake in this era to dismantle the government and stop all this important progress.”

The rav’s words are echoed by Bayit Yehudi leader Naftali Bennet, who is calling to prevent early elections. In recent days, Bennet accused PM Netanyahu of needlessly drawing the nation to early elections.

  1. Would someone do what HaRav Druckma (or this article) omitted to do: point to the words of Torah, Tanach or Talmud that supports his support for a right-wing government.
