VIDEO/PHOTOS: As Promised: Peleg Protests Underway In Bnei Brak; 26 Arrests Made [UPDATED 1:12PM ET]

(VIDEO AND PHOTOS IN EXTENDED ARTICLE)

Peleg officials called for renewed protests on Thursday afternoon, 6 Nissan, at 4:30PM in Bnei Brak. They rabbonim feel the fact that the Jaffa Military Court did not release talmid Meir Brodiansky immediately, is cause for continued protests.

The Jaffa Military Court on Wednesday, 5 Nissan, ruled imprisoned yeshiva bochur Meir Brodiansky will not be released immediately, but will be released by Pesach.

This however is not viewed as a victory, since the rabbonim shlita who were present at the hearing, wanted him released immediately.

Attorney Baruch Stauber explained to the rabbonim that after the judges ruling, with the days off for good behavior and other considerations, this is good, for at the end of the day, he will be home for Yomtov.

As promised, Yeshiva Bochrim affiliated with the Peleg were out in force, closing major roads in Bnaie Brak. Police moved in quickly, and 28 people were arrested in violent protests.

As YWN reported, Meir Brodiansky, a Yeshiva Bochur affiliated with the Peleg was arrested at a checkpoint on Highway 90 near Maale Adumim during a routine inspection two weeks ago. When it was determined by police that he is AWOL from the IDF, he was arrested and handed over to military police.

Meir is a Talmid at Yeshiva Kol Torah – a Peleg affiliated Yeshiva. He is a grandson of Rav Yitzchock Yeruchim Bordiansky, who is a Mashgiach in the Yeshiva.

  2. Anyone blocking innocent drivers is committing a violent crime. Israeli authorities should prepare for them reminders to count Sefiras Haomer while they are being detained. Also the placemats to help them measure the shiurim for matzoh and marror.

  3. GREAT MESIRAS NEFESH…but what about bittul tora? not only them but how about all those people stranded? chassanim having to get to Jerusalem for their wedding? how about the rest of the family? how about those getting arrested (almost intentionally) and will have to sit in jail in middle of the zman? how about the bittul torah of the protests that will happen then (in iyar))? wasn’t this tried before? did it work? if so why continue? PLEASE REPLY I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR ANY ANSWERS TO THIS. WHEN I WAS BECOMIG FRUM NON OF MY MENTORS PRESENTED JUDIASIM IN THIS SORT OF HYPOCRICY AND IT REALLY BOTHERS ME

  4. the little you know is quite glaring. All gedolei Yisroel (incl. Rav Shteinman and Rav Kenievsky who once signed a letter asking all to dedicate three days each year to protest with asra kadisha over kvarim – look it up) hold that there are times when we must protest (the above asra kadisha protest were a lot more violent than these – look it up). Many gedolei hador feel the present situation calls for this so their followers who obey them despite the pain involved are what?
    pretty simple no?

  5. Just to put this into context. It’s the week before Pesach. While I understand the desire to protest, this method punishes the entire society. Working people cannot get home. While our homes are bustling to get ready for Pesach, thousands of people who rely on transportation through this general area were stuck in over an hour of extra traffic.

I was supposed to do our Pesach shopping tonight in Bnei Brak on my way home from work. The highways were shut down and cars couldn’t even get close. It took over two hours for a short ride. Missed the opportunity to help my wife prepare for Pesach tonight, and now have to find alternative shopping solutions during the last minute rush to wrap work projects next week.

This is a significant tirchah ditsiburah.

  6. a. jer. d. The Torah is supreme to everything, the Torah has been with us and protected long before the Zionists and will be there long after Zionism collapses which is imminent.

  7. BMG:

You are being intellectually dishonest, and factually a liar. The right to protest is guaranteed by the Israeli government, and has been approved from time to time by Gedolei Yisroel. I do not have any issue with that. The Asra Kadisha protests contained violence, none of which had the approval of any of the Gedolim. Find one, name him, and produce the evidence. As I recall, they were horrified by the freedoms used by the protesters, which caused unneeded damage, and were inconsistent with the goal of kedusha.

Who approved the protests in which innocent people, going about their lives, would by paralyzed? Not access to ambulances or medical care, people going to work, etc.? The heter to do that did NOT come from any Gedolim. I would love to see someone sued, in Beis Din or in court for the damages incurred by these baalei aveiroh, mazikei horabim, mechalelei Hashem.

    Stop blaming innocent Gedolim.

  8. REPLY TO BMG: SO WHY PROTEST IN BNEI BRAK WHICH IS 99% CHAREIDI WHY DONT THEY PROTEST IN TEL AVIV WHITHOUT CAUSING BITUL TORA AND BEFORE PESACH STRESS(WHICH PROBABLY IS NOT MUCH IN THE SECULAR NEIGHBORHOODS OF TEL AVIV) WHY BNEI BRAK? WHY JERUSALEM?PLEASE ANSWER.

  9. a jer d – the duty today (when the secular bums have declared on war on Hashem Yisburech and on the torah and are intent on breaking the steadfastness of the orthodox jews and the clinging of the frum jews to the torah and kedusha in every way possible, after they unfortunately succeeded to secularize 80% of the jews the last century)
and the responsibility of every yid loyal and faithful to Hashem is to fight these low lifes with every way possible,
and just in every war civilians suffer but there is no choice otherwise the enemy will conquer and kill them all.
So it is here , anyone with a clear mind and with a knowledge of what is really going on (with the Israeli government trying to shmad the frum jews through military draft, meddling with the curriculum of the yeshivas, encouraging the young to leave the yeshivas etc.) and with a knowledge of the history of these wicked people how they stole thousands of Yemenite babies from their mothers without a drop of pity (and until this day they won’t restore them to their families) , how they cut the sidelocks of thousands of orphans who had no parents to care for them after the holocaust. How they went around In all jewish communities before the WW2 and tore away the boys and girls from the religion.
Anyone who knows a bit about the above knows that this is a war on the satan himself and when you are fighting for your life and more important your spiritual life (as chazal say gudol hamachtioi yoser min hahorgoi) you can not consider uncomfortabilities like pesach stress and sitting an extra hour in traffic (come out of your car and join the protest)

  10. reb berish:

    הוכח תוכיח את עמיתך

I am going to call you out on your absolutely disgusting comment that smells of extreme ignorance. No, I am not going to defend the tziyonim. I do not agree with their derech at all, and you cited several of the horrible things they do. But you have paid no attention to the comments above, and you are also blinded from seeing what is happening. These thugs are NOT protesting against the government. They are NOT protesting against the IDF. If that is what they wanted, they would arrange for these protests to take place outside the offices of the government. But, no. They are blocking the streets, where the ones that get stuck are not the targets of the protest at all.

If you are willing to forgo all your Torah values, and give them a blank check heter to “let off steam” and express their anger, with zero regard for who suffers, then you and I do not have the same values at all. And I am solidly convinced that my values are those of Torah miSinai. What are yours?

These protests are NOT acceptable according to Torah value at all. They are a chilul Hashem, and a menace to the entire public. Torah does not accept that. In fact, Shulchan Aruch considers a public menace a Rodef. These are low life thugs that use the mantle of the Yeshiva and their shittah to inflict untold damage on others. That was NOT the derech of Rav Shmuel Auerbach ZT”L.

Now which gedolim do you believe approve the criminal behavior here? Please show me names and documentation. My Torah values prohibit me from accepting this wild, indiscriminately damaging behavior at all. Not a bit of it. I might tolerate a direction change, but not from you. Some gedolim please.

  11. Every now and then another group in Israel protests by blocking traffic. Be it, Teva, the handicapped, the settelers, the left, the right, against Bibi, against illegal immigrants, the Histadrut etc. etc. And here we find something amaizing, when one group sees a legitimate cause to protest, the rest of society is up in arms about how immoral it is, and how chassanim and kallos can’t get to their weddings etc etc. all the imagery that’s supposed to pull your heartstrings… untill the next group of people find a legitimate cause to protest about, and the same thing repeats itself. One group of people believes it has a just cause that warrants a fight and everyone else condemnes them! Can you see the hypocrisy already. Bottom line, if you don’t believe in their cause you won’t support their protest, and if you do you will. So if you don’t believe in their cause have a little tolerance, because tomorrow someone might be stepping on what you believe are your rights, and will want to protest.

  12. They should shut down the business district in Tel Aviv for a full week. That would rile up the Zionists enough to think twice before arresting a Yeshiva bochor.

  13. to “the little i know”,

I’m not going to get into petty ugly arguments with you (though it seems that you are the one that seems doesn’t pay attention to (my) comments)
but i’ll just ask you one question, if a person would know that the tziyonim are getting ready to shoot his 10 children ch”v one at a time over the next 10 years and he knows the only way (the only way) to stop them from doing it, the only thing they are afraid of, is to make an uproar in the country and block traffic in the whole country, would you still cite chillul Hashem and public menace etc. ?
if your answer is yes then your torah value is distorted and if your answer is no then you forget the gemorah that gudol hamachtiyo yoser min hahorgo and you don’t value your spiritual life as much as you should.
