Truck Hits, Kills Man Fixing Broken-Down Car On NY Thruway

A box truck has struck and killed a 26-year-old man who was trying to fix his disabled car along the New York State Thruway in central New York.

State police say Arthur Hunter of Syracuse was killed around 2:30 a.m. Thursday along Interstate 90 in Verona. Hunter had pulled over his 2002 Toyota Solara and turned on the hazard lights. The truck drifted off the side of the road and struck the back of the car after Hunter stepped outside.

Troopers say three teenage men in Hunter’s car were taken to a Syracuse hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the truck was ticketed for unsafely moving from a lane, a violation.
