Israel: Heatwave Is Expected To Break, But More Heat Promised For Shabbos

If you are in Israel you are aware the temperatures are unseasonably high, downright oppressive. The hazy ‘sharav’ heat that has been hovering over past days has been difficult for many, and the hot dry air has taken a toll among high-risk groups, including small children, the elderly and infirm. Many residents and visitors to Israel have been compelled to curtail their time outdoors, especially during the hot afternoon hours.

The good news is that the heat is breaking on Wednesday, 9 Sivan, with clear and partly cloudy skies, reflecting more seasonable temperatures. Thursday is expected to be a comfortable, while temperatures will continue dropping into the low 80s Fahrenheit (28C). Erev Shabbos is going to be hotter as temperatures begin climbing again, reaching 87F (31C) and on Shabbos, back up to 89F (32C) but not the same ‘sharav’ oppressive stagnant air that has been with us in past days.
