I read the first half of the article above and immediately said impossible. Bullets do not suddenly explode for no reason. Then the article goes further to explain that it wasn't that the father was holding it in his hand and just looking at it when it suddenly went off, rather he tried to pry it open to get at the gun-powder inside.
People- seriously. Don't play with things that do not concern you. This is the result and it could have been worse. This yid paid a price for his folly but it could have just as easily been his kid who I wouldn't be surprised to learn was probably standing looking over his father's shoulder at the time of the accident.
Bullets are not toys. They should not be played with *ever* and certainly not by anyone not trained in their proper use.
As an aside, the assumption made by the article that the bullet came from an M-16 is interesting. Since presumably it was a single bullet laying in the street and not in a cartridge, it could have come from a Galil just as easily.

"Their father was trying to open the bullet to extract the gunpowder when it exploded".
WHY? Never ever touch armaments without prior experience. Refuah Shelaima.
