Asra Kadisha Thugs Beat Bayit Vegan Businessman

mdanThugs affiliated with Asra Kadisha on Wednesday night the eve of 2 Elul 5773 visited the home of chareidi businessman Aryeh Golovnititz (גולובנציץ) and gave him a real beating, so bad that he required hospitalization. The beating appears related to his dealings with land sales in Beit Shemesh, the land where some feel construction is compromising Jewish graves.

Eight thugs identifying themselves as members of Asra Kadisha arrived at his Bayit Vegan home late in the night. They simply beat him without mercy, promising him this was only a first visit because of his real estate dealings with the controversial area.

The thugs knocked on the door presenting themselves as schnorrers collecting for hachnasas kallah. When the door was opened for them they knocked Aryeh on the ground and began beating him with a blunt object as the victim’s wife and daughter looked on in horror. Baruch Hashem the two got a good look at some of the attackers and they provided police with a detailed description.

Aryeh was transported to a local hospital with a possible fractured skull and other injuries from the beating with the blunt object.

A Jerusalem councilman who is quoted anonymously by Kikar Shabbos calls on police to crack down on this “chareidi underworld” and bring these criminals to justice once and for all. He added that it is unbelievable that R’ Aryeh, known in the community as a major bal chessed is targeted by these thugs and the time has come to put them away once and for all.

Despite the efforts of Eida Chareidis Ravaad Rav Moshe Sternbuch Shlita, Asra Kadisha appears to insist that the building site is indeed desecrating Jewish bones and they appear to be ignoring his piskei Halacha.

Friends of the victim accompanied Reb Aryeh to Bnei Brak a few short hours before the beating. He met with HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita, wishing to ask him how to proceed with the Beit Shemesh. R’ Aryeh explained how he consults with Gedolei Torah to make sure nothing wrong is done. The friends explain Rav Kanievsky gave him an exceptionally warm bracha to continue with the project, wishing him much success.

It should also be added that in recent weeks, senior Eida officials including Gavaad HaGaon HaRav Yitzchok Tuvia Weiss Shlita have been quoted calling for a halt of the project and “to do everything possible to stop the chilul kevarim”.

Kikar quotes an Eida official on Thursday morning following the beating saying “To our sorrow, there appear to be some who took the Gavaad’s words too far and too literally – to the point of unacceptable violence.”

  1. it’s very difficult for me to understand these people.

Usually I succeed in understanding where a person is coming from – though I strongly disagree of course, I understand the thug who mugs for money, I know what’s going through his head. I also understand the mizrachi guy, the Neturei Karta guy (besides the radical few).

But why would a frum yid, who cares about Mitzvos, do such an איסור of beating a yid, for something he himself can’t be sure about. There’s a P’sak from the Bada”tz to his defense, so how can you be justified?

What happened to אין אדם חוטא ולא לו?

  2. We have this:
“Despite the efforts of Eida Chareidis Ravaad Rav Moshe Sternbuch Shlita, Asra Kadisha appears to insist that the building site is indeed desecrating Jewish bones and they appear to be ignoring his piskei Halacha.”

    But we have this:
“senior Eida officials including Gavaad HaGaon HaRav Yitzchok Tuvia Weiss Shlita have been quoted calling for a halt of the project and ‘to do everything possible to stop the chilul kevarim'”

What is the Eida’s view. We have a contradiction.

  3. “Gavaad HaGaon HaRav Yitzchok Tuvia Weiss Shlita [has] been quoted calling for a halt of the project and ‘to do everything possible to stop the chilul kevarim’”

Do his words constitute a call to violence and is he therefore held accountable for the violence? For example, Chalres Manson, lehavdil, never killed anyone, but he rots in prison because he directed his followers to kill.

  4. a life that does not have balance can lead to this type of behavior
no sports , no hobbies, just a closed society with few outlets.
So they have nothing better to do.
    Lets go beat someone up.
And this is what we want for our kids?

  5. 1818:

    Lack of sports and hobbies?!?
Hundreds of thousands of chareidim have grown up without sports and hobbies, and did not and would never commit such an act.

  6. There are fringe/extremists in every society who are willing, able and fired upon to use violence, thievery, harsh rhetoric to accomplish its goals.

We can NOT continue to label these individuals as mentally unfit, emotionally unstable or just ‘weirdos’. There is alot that can and should be done to rein them in.

A Torah life doesn’t lead to this, and certainly one where one toils in Torah. These people certainly are not Oisek Betorah. I believe that if these guys and sikrikos and all the other nutty groups were non Jews they would likely be murderers.

  8. Let’s face it. You will find people in every group who are mentally challenged, with poor midos.

We all suffer from these kinds of people.

  9. MDshweks: Um… Didn’t you answer the question yourself? You said “I understand the thug who mugs for money, I know what’s going through his head” Okay, so now what don’t you understand?? Where the money is?
Can I hazard a guess that you live in Chu”l?
