On Thursday, Gilad Shalit’s family will mark his third birthday while he is being held in Hamas captivity. Among those expected to take part in the family event are the parents of Eldad Regev HY”D and Ehud Goldwasser HY”D, whose bodies were recently released by Hizbullah in a prisoner exchange deal. The event will take place in the Shalit home in Mitzpei Hila in the Western Galil.
Among the scheduled speakers are Mrs. Aviva Shalit, Gilad’s mother, and Mrs. Miki Goldwasser, Ehud’s mother.
On Wednesday, solidarity events are scheduled to take place around the country, including in Tel Aviv’s Rabin Square and opposite the Prime Minister’s Residence in Yerushalayim.
In a related matter, members of the Shalit family responded with anger to the news of the bogus tape being circulated depicting Gilad speaking, calling on the public to take part in his birthday celebration. It has been verified the tape is not legitimate.
