The Color Red warning sounded on motzei Simchas Torah as Sderot area residents gathered for second hakofos. Nevertheless, residents did not head for shelter, with Tzeirei Chabad representative Yoram Markowitz explaining the hakofos “are more important,” confident participants would not be scared off, which they were not.
During recent days, security officials have been on heightened alert status in the Greater Sderot Area with intelligence reports pointing to a renewal of rocket attacks.
There were no reports of injuries or damage as a result of the attack. Defense Minister Ehud Barak ordered all Gaza crossings closed on Wednesday in response to the ceasefire violation.
