Finance Minister Roni Bar-On today, Thursday, will meet with a number of economic experts and academics to discuss the alarming economic situation and perhaps work towards formulating an emergency plan in Israel.
Bar-On has been called upon to take action before it is too late, to convene and emergency forum to address the situation which appears to spreading.
In Israel, experts are predicting 1,200 Israelis will lose their jobs each month in the coming months. Bituach Leumi is seeking to prepare for a wave of requests for unemployment benefits.
Bar-On and others are issuing messages of calm, insisting the situation in Israel is under control, explaining the financial system in Israel differs significantly from that of the United States.
