Againt all the conventional wisdom, Olmert will go into history as the leader who promised the US a lot but did not yield even an inch.
Watch out for Bibi. He talks tough, but his Wye record is dismal.

He probably figures it is now or never. In three months the US will probably be less supportive of Israel’s position due to probable political and economic changes in the US. Perhaps he figures it is better to get a final settlement now when all Israel has to do is give up East Jerusalem and the West Bank, than wait until West Jerusalem and the Galil are on the bargaining table.
