Rabbi Avi Gisser, the rav of Yishuv Ofrah, was appointed by Education Ministry Director-General Shlumit Amichai as the head of the public school system’s dati education.
The appointment is expected to obtain cabinet approval in Sunday’s weekly cabinet meeting.
Rav Gisser caused a bit of a stir in the summer when he ruled non-Jews may work in construction in Ofrah on Shabbos (reported HERE on YWN).
