MKs Call on Government to Abandon Plans for Bet HaShalom Eviction

(Tuesday, November 25th, 2008)

Forty-eight MKs signed their names in support of the residents of the Bet HaShalom in Chevron, calling on the government to abandon plans to evict the Jewish residents, at the very least until after the general election.

Unlike the reports appearing in the media, the MKs correctly pointed out that the Supreme Court does not compel the government to evict the tenants of the building in dispute, but it gives them the right should they decide to do so.

Among the lawmakers who signed the letter of support were Minister Rafi Eitan (Pensioners), MK Tzachi Hanegbi (Kadima), and others from the Likud, Bayit Yehuda, Yisrael Beitenu, Shas, Pensioners, UTJ, and Kadima parties.
