According to IDF Chief of Personnel Branch Major-General Avi Zamir, 26% of eligible age Israelis do not enter the IDF, with 44% of the females and 26% of the males avoiding military service.
During recent years, the number of soldiers serving in the IDF dropped 9,000, with the senior officer stating the current trend may not continue, pointing out we still live surrounded by hostile nations seeking to destroy us.
