rr.jpgPHOTO LINK BELOW: The motorist R”L killed at a Kiryat Gat area railroad crossing was 45-years-old Nati Ezra Z”L. According to investigators, he actually crashed the barrier which was down in the closed position signaling an oncoming train. His vehicle apparently got stuck on the tracks.

The train’s motorman, Moshe Biton, stated as he neared the crossing he saw a gray vehicle to the left and applied the emergency brakes, to no avail. The vehicle was dragged for about a half a kilometer (3/10 mile). It took rescue workers over two hours to extricate the remains of the driver out of the torn shrapnel.

The incident resulted in a suspension of train service to and from Beersheva for a number of hours on Sunday morning.
