State Prosecutor Instructs Mayor Barkat to Evict Jews from Shiloach Structure

State Prosecutor Moshe Lador has ordered Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat to evict the Jews from Beit Yehonatan located in the eastern Jerusalem neighborhood of Shiloach, referred to as Silwan by Lador. Lador seems to have lost patience, demanding the mayor comply with a court ruling which calls for ousting the tenants and sealing the building.

The residents are part of the growing effort by Ateret Kohanim to reclaim Jewish properties in the eastern capital which to date have been occupied by Arabs.

Lador reminds the mayor that the case has been before the nation’s High Court of Justice a number of times and as such, City Hall must comply with the court order forthwith.

MK (Ichud HaLeumi) Dr. Michael Ben-Ari sent an urgent letter to Justice Minister Prof. Yaakov Neeman, urging him to call Lador to order, pointing out that while he is so concerned over Beit Yehonatan, seeking to oust the Jews, the state prosecutor makes no mention of the fact there are 216 pending demolition orders against illegal Arab structures, which he ignores.
