Last, World Bnei Akiva launched Operation: WBA Whatsapp, calling upon all movement alumni to reunite virtually with old friends and peers via its special internet application SHEVETsapp.
Within four days of launching the campaign, over 250 Whatsapp groups formed with WBA members and alumni around the world. The oldest alumni to create their own group were Shevet Eitanim, whose members were born in 1936.
SHEVETsapp enables WBA alumni around the world to create online Whatsapp groups by age, tribe, and geographical location, rebuilding, reuniting and fostering sharing among old friends who spent their adolescent years growing with the organization. Groups formed since the launch of SHEVETsapp include alumni of WBA branches in the USA, South America, Europe, Australia and more.
World Bnei Akiva is the largest Zionist youth group in the world. Founded in 1954, it presently boasts 110 branches across 26 countries.
“This project was implemented as part of our goal to create a platform that reconnects alumni with each other and with WBA,” explains Roi Abecassis, Secretary General of WBA. “We view friendship and connection as very significant values, and we believe that preserving those values can lead to bigger and better things. We call upon anyone who values the organization to reconnect with old friends and peers and renew the bonds of the World Bnei Akiva family. Reconnecting is easy. Wow, this is really a significant piece of news for your chareidi readership…. How could the yeshiva world manage without knowing about this important development?!?
hate to break it to ya but some of us have reason to find this very interesting. Thank you for your open-mindedness toward other Jews, unless, of course you don’t consider anyone but a “pure bred” to be part of your definition of “chareidi readership”.
