Five hoodlums affiliated with Neturei Karta, including a minor, were arrested on Jaffa Street in Yerushalayim on motzei shabbos as they were detected destroyed a memorial plaque for victims of a 1996 number 18 bus suicide bombing attack at that location. They were taken into custody for questioning but reportedly did not cooperate with investigators, unwilling to explain their actions.
The men were apprehended as a routine patrol passed, seeing them tear the memorial for the victims of the attack near Nordau Street. They fled the scene but police report they succeeded in apprehending them during a pursuit.
26 people were murdered in that attack HY”D and dozens of others were injured.
