I think I’m coming to the point that I’m just so frum that I don’t hold of ANY hashgachas — so now I don’t have to have a hashgacha on my food at all, right?

I think the point is that consumers are more upset at this point about the rediculous in-fighting than they are about the prices or even the level of the hechsher. Pretty pathetic that they can’t get together and agree on something… anything!

From a consumer perspective, the more the better. It would only be cheaper to consoldate them if they were all run on a non-commercial basis, relying on unpaid volunteers. That is not the case in Eretz Yisrael.
