Judge Tosses Results Of Ramapo Ward Vote Over Fraud Allegations

(Tuesday, October 7th, 2014)

ramA Rockland County judge tossed the results of last week’s Ramapo ward election after allegations of voter fraud.

Residents were voting on whether or not to divide the town into six wards, essentially giving people more diverse representation. Many claim certain lawmakers were committing fraud to keep that from happening by withholding information and not allowing poll watchers.

A town representative denies the claims, saying the election was thrown out because of clerical mistakes regarding absentee ballots and registration.

The town board will now decide whether to appeal or accept the decision. If they accept the decision, a new vote must be held within 60 to 75 days.
