SCHI PARENTS EMERGENCY CAMPAIGN: You Can Help!

(COMMUNICATED CONTENT)

Dear Friends,

I am writing to you as a parent of SCHI, The School for Children with Hidden Intelligence, in Lakewood, NJ, a one of a kind institution. SCHI is a world-renowned, cutting-edge therapeutic and educational school meeting the unique needs of hundreds of severely-developmentally delayed, medically fragile, and socially-emotionally challenged children and young adults ranging in age from birth to 21+.

SCHI is truly a family, bringing not only education and guidance to the students, but support for the parents and joy into the lives of the staff. The staff members of SCHI are so warm and caring that parents know that they are sending their children to a place that will help them become the best they can be.  SCHI provides educational and therapeutic services by certified professional staff to children with disabilities as varied as autism, Down syndrome, ADHD, muscular dystrophy, Spina bifida, and cerebral palsy, among others. SCHI places great emphasis on maintaining a high teacher to pupil ratio along with individualized educational programs, designed to fit each student’s specific needs.

Walk into the school and you’ll be enveloped by a special feeling that you don’t experience anywhere else.

I am writing to you now because the school is in a crisis situation.

SCHI has never said no to any child or parent. Funding or no funding, SCHI has provided every service, every program, anything and everything a special needs child has needed.

Since the school and its substantial special services to our students have grown, our financial stability has been threatened.  We must come up with the needed funds to remove this threat and continue to provide our crucial services to our students.

We parents fear that the unthinkable might happen.

Walk into the school and you’d have no idea of the crisis at hand. The teachers are teaching, the kids are smiling, and the daily routine is normal – as it should be. But the need for action is urgent.

Parents of the school have banded together in truly inspiring fashion to scrape together money to save their precious SCHI. These are parents who are already carrying the unmanageable expenses of a special needs child. But they are doing all they can to prevent this threat from taking place under their watch.  They have extended themselves beyond their capabilities in a campaign to save SCHI.

Time is of essence.

And time is not on our side.

But people’s generosity is.

We are reaching out to others with the opportunity of a lifetime. You have the opportunity to step up to the plate and help save SCHI. It is a zechus that no one will be able to take away from you. Down the line, when we look back on this trying ordeal, you will each be able to say that when SCHI was under threat, you stopped the unthinkable from happening.

A special committee is overseeing this emergency campaign and what will iy”H follow, so that SCHI will be able to continue to provide the legendary services it has always provided.

Please. Jump in. Do what you can. Do it for the children. Do it for their parents and siblings.
