Chalk up another point against the PETA folks. There is a purpose and place for all Tahor creatures…right next to the peas and mashed potatoes. :-)

How many Chief Rabbis of the Ukraine do we have? We have Chief Rabbi of Ukraine Azriel Chaikin and we also have Rabbi Menachem Mendel Glitzenstein, Chief Rabbi of Ukraine.

Actually, Yanky Bleich is THE Chief Rabbi of the Ukraine and has been since the Mid-Eighties. The previous pope even implied as much. (Remember the picture?) What are these Chevra’s claim to the title?

You don’t think he was installed as a stooge of the Soyuz Sovyetzka, do you?

JP2 had very little say about who or what is legitimte outside the Catholic world. Same applies to Papa Ratzi today. And Ukraine is majority Eastern Orthodox Christian with a substantial Catholic minority so papal impact is even less when you consider that. If you seek authorization for any Chief Rabbi, look elsewhere.

If you know the man and the work he does, you wouldn’t be asking this question.

    “papal impact is even less..”

Back then, they were the only two in the Ukraine who wore Yarmulkes in public.

    Yeah, but I don’t think JP2 had a Bris.
