Doctors for Human Rights Convoy Halted by Israel Police

(Sunday, January 18th, 2009)

A convoy of trucks originating from Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Taibeh was stopped by Israel Police as it made its way towards the southern district. Police are unwilling to permit the convoy to enter the area, which has been closed to visitors since the start of Operation Cast Lead three weeks ago. Police explained they were simply enforcing a directive issued by IDF Southern District Commander Major-General Yoav Gallant.

The trucks are identified as being part of a humanitarian aid shipment of the Doctors for Human Rights organization.
