Manchester: Opposition to Shul

(Tuesday, December 5th, 2006)

Neighbors are opposing plans for a new Shul because of traffic fears – even though they are aware that Yidden walk to Shul on Shabbos.

Residents claim there is significant on-street parking close to another nearby synagogue, because worshippers park a short distance away and then walk.

The Shaare Chaim Hale Shul is applying for permission to convert a barn at Partington Farm, Wicker Lane, Hale Barns, near Altrincham, into a Shul.

It also wants to convert the farmhouse there into two separate homes.

A report to Trafford council’s development control committee says the Shul is to provide nine parking spaces – well below the council’s parking standard.
