charedim, looks like the rule hasnt been instituted yet so ill feel free…
you are 100% right about a discussion forum.
i just kind of assumed this wasnt a discussion forum, since below each story it states: “comments”, which i interpreted as one’s comments on the story.
but of course the comments section is whatever YW chooses it to be.
again you are right, but i was hoping this would NOT be a discussion forum any longer, since it has become meis. i dont think this is avoidable with any rules as long as it is for “discussion.
i dont like to see meis when it comes to Yidden
i was hoping it could be changed.
talking to each other in person is one thing, in an anonymous forum, well you know how those dynamics brings out the behaimah in a person.

The interesting thing about FEIVEL’S comment is that no one can now disagree with him … a conundrum.

FEIVEL (sorry for breaking your rule) — The essence of a discussion board is for people to, um, discuss things — not to have multiple unrelated comments crossing blindly in the night.

As far as your concerns about Leitzanus (guilty as charged) and lack of Derech Eretz (hopefully not guilty), it’s up to individual posters to moderate their comments and to control the instincts that can run free in an anonymous world. You are essentially suggesting that people shouldn’t talk to each other to avoid saying anything offensive. It doesn’t work in the real world (although it would make dinner table conversation interesting), and I don’t think there’s a need for it here either.

This will be followed by dancing, one piece of hot potato kugal per customer and a freezing cold keg of beer!

You have a choice of a bed or the floor (although if I was you I’d choose the floor since there will be no linen on that bed!!!)

i would like to see another rule
and put it near the top of the list

COMMENTS MUST BE ADDRESSED TO THE ORIGINAL STORY ONLY.
NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO ADDRESS OTHER COMMENTS DIRECTLY.

I realize this would eliminate most comments, and make “discussion” very difficult, which is probably not in the interests of YW, nevertheless, I personally would love to see this implemented and enforced.

otherwise i doubt that it will be possible to prevent the comment area from becoming a fertile ground of machlokes, ill-will, exhibitions of lack of derech-eretz, letzones, and childishness.
