Mr. YerushalayimIrKodesh – Please stop your platitudes and preaching. If R’ Shlomo Zalman Auerbach ZT”L issued a halachik ruling, we may listen to him even if today’s Gadol Hador has a different psak.

r eliyashev as well as r chesner {chaver beis din r nissim karelitz and mora dasra ofakim] mean to say it is not permitted for people who live in eretz yisroel not to travel there{ossur drabbanon as stated in rambam} and has a din of 2 days to keep seder.the tzitz eliezer disagrees but the olam is not nohag like him.G aza is a machlokes as stated by tzitz eliezer and as heard from rosh yeshive of netzach israel is considered like chutz laretz and putr from trumos and maasros as stated by raavad {brought down in mishna brura}He does not posken lmasseh lgabeh 2 days-but the charedi olam everywhere holds it is [gaza] putur from trumos and maasros.

Does this p’sak of Rav Elyashiv Shlit”a mean that a Yid from Eretz Yisroel who comes to the US for Pesach must also keep 2 sedorim?

If so, it seems to be a bit of a chiddush as we have seen the p’sak of most “Gedolei Hapsokim” over the last 50-60 years is that they do not need to. Rather they must publicly (b’farhesya) keep all the chumros of Yom Tov Sheini, but privatley they do not need to and they are mechuyav to wear T’fillin.

This is a case where a chumrah in one area leads to a kullah in another area. This is a question for the Gedolei Haposkim.

I would really like to hear the sevora of such a p’sak. (The Yom Tov Sheini issue, not the Eilat issue)

I am curious as to why the previous poster (Yerushalayim) is so intense about saying the p’sak of Rav Elyashiv as the Gadol Hador is the absolute final word. Does this then mean that the opinion of R’ Shlomo Zalman Auerbach is now irrelevant because he was niftar about 12 years ago and we must now all follow the p’sak of Rav Elyashiv Shlit”a.

If Rav Eliyahsuv said that Eilat is chutz laoretz we don’t need more then that. If he the Gadod Hador said that then that’s it. It’s a very known thing besides that. It’s not part of Eretz Yisroel. Rav

According to Rabbi Yerachmiel David Fried, in his _Yom Tov Sheni
Kehilchato_, the following stipulations apply regarding one or two days of
Yom Tov:
a) Transjordan and all the settled areas in the Negev today keep one day.
b) The city of Gaza – one day.
c) North of Eretz Israel, up to Tyre and Sidon (now in Lebanon) – one day.
d) Eilat – I quote: “The city of Eilat and its environs, there are those
who say that its law is as Eretz Israel in regard to the second day of Yom
Tov, and there are those who say that it is considered like Chutz La’aretz
(i.e., one must keep a second day), and there are those say that one must
keep the Chumrot (“stringencies”) of both places.” The three views are
(respectively) of Rav Zvi Pesach Frank, Zatzal; Rav Shlomo Zalman Auerbach,
Zatzal; and Rav Elyashiv, Shlita (other rabbis are also quoted in regard to
each viewpoint).

What about chareidi israeli families that come to USA and keep only one seder, (while keeping the second day publicity as yom tov, privately not.)

Does this mean that if you travel TO Eretz Yisroel for pesach you only have to make one seder? It seems that the psak implies that you have to keep in accordance with where you are at the time. Therefore, Americans traveling to Israel for pesach would only keep one seder.
