Landslide vote calls for boycott of new PA government

olmert1.jpgThe Israeli Cabinet approved Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s call to boycott the new Palestinian unity government in a landslide vote on Sunday.Only two ministers voted against the boycott and nineteen ministers voted in favor of the boycott. Education Minister Yuli Tamir and Minister Ghaleb Majadle, the first Arab minister, were the two who voted against the measure, The Jerusalem Post reported.

Earlier Sunday, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert asked the international community to join Israel in agreeing to reject the new Palestinian unity government. However, it appears his overtures may be too late.

The Prime Minister called the government’s platform “problematic” and said at the cabinet meeting, “We expect that the international community will not be misled by the creation of the coalition government.”

The Quartet has maintained that the aid embargo on the Palestinian government will continue as long the international community’s basic stipulations are not met.

However, the US and Britain have already signaled a softening of their positions and said they would be willing to talk to non-Hamas ministers, Reuters reported.

In addition, a number of European countries have announced that they will cooperate with the Palestinian unity government, government spokesman Dr. Ghazi Hamad said Friday, according to Ynetnews.

  2. REALLY?

Uh sorry to burst your bubble…..Mr. Netenyahu promised never to shake Arafat’s hand.

    Remember?

Guess what? HE DID. He also promised never to return any land.

    Guess what?

He gave back more than Rabin.

  3. Netanyahu stunk up the joint, the arabs shot the only two honest kneset ministers, kahane (who Olmert pushed out of the kneset, he was prosecuting attorney against kach) and “Gandi” Rechavam Zeevi. They don’t have to shoot the rest, they do what the arabs want anyway. Sorry if I sound so bitter, but them’s thed facts!

  4. no matter who they get 2 be p”m it’s not going 2 help bec. it’s all ways goona be america or the u.k. telling them what 2 do!!!

  5. justa I’m with you that the 2 best guys were Kahane and Zeevi, they are well missed, A. Eldad says it like it is & has Jewish pride.

  6. Netanyahu was a total disappointment from day 1 (I happened to be in EY on day 1 of his term). He is a liar of at least Clintonian and perhaps Sharptonian proportions.

    The only answer is Moshiach.

By the way, is it true that both Yishmoel Hirsch and Mohammed Ali Friedman were offered cabinet positions in the new PA “unity” government?
